Gisagara District: Introducing the groundbreaking iCLM model for HIV, TB, and Malaria, along with the iCLM System marks a significant advancement in improving healthcare services for high-risk groups, key populations, and vulnerable communities
Yesterday in @GisagaraDistr, @RwandaNGOForum, in collaboration with @RBCRwanda and with support from @GlobalFund, hosted an introductory and orientation meeting on the “Integrated Community-Led Monitoring (iCLM) Model and iCLM System for community data management for HIV, TB and Malaria and establishment of the District iCLM Task team.”
The meeting gathered local authorities, healthcare staff from district hospitals and health centers, and representatives of individuals affected by HIV, TB, and Malaria.
In her welcome remarks, on behalf of the district, Dusabe Denise (@denise_dusabe), Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, said: “On behalf of the district, I extend my profound gratitude to @RwandaNGOForum and partners for organizing this impactful meeting and bringing stakeholders under the same roof. The significant impact of past efforts is evident. With the introduction of a new integrated community-led monitoring (iCLM) model for HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, I am optimistic about the future. We welcome all participants to this meeting and initiative, which holds great promise, and reaffirm the district’s commitment and support throughout its implementation.”
On behalf of the Malaria and Other Parasitic Diseases Division, Epaphrodite Habanabakize provided a comprehensive update on the malaria situation across the country, stressing that Gisagara is among the leading districts in malaria cases as per data. On the other hand, Dr. Yves Habimana provided updates on Tuberculosis status, stressing that Gisagara is among the districts with 6 TB cases identified in the community, whereby community health workers (CHWs) play a key role in detecting tuberculosis (TB) cases.
The meeting included a presentation on the iCLM model for HIV, TB, and Malaria, along with a practical demonstration of the iCLM data management software, showcasing its capabilities in real-time data collection, analysis, and reporting. This hands-on session emphasized how this digital platform streamlines the management of community-generated data, assisting stakeholders in understanding its role in enhancing productivity, decision-making, and service delivery for high-risk groups and key and vulnerable communities.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Vedaste Mbayire, Director General of Kibirizi Hospital, one of the established iCLM task Team members, concluded the meeting by sincerely thanking Rwanda NGOs Forum for its continued efforts and commitment to improving the health of the community at high-risk, affected or infected. He reaffirmed the partnership with district stakeholders and expressed unwavering confidence in the successful implementation of the Integrated Community-Led Monitoring (iCLM) Model.
