Milestone Achievement in Improving Healthcare Services for High-risk groups, key and Vulnerable Populations

Today, @RwandaNGOForum, in collaboration with @RBCRwanda and with support from @GlobalFund, achieved a significant milestone in the iCLM introductory and orientation meetings. Two simultaneous sessions were held in @RubavuDistrict and @rulindodistrict, laying the groundwork for the successful rollout of the iCLM model across the country.

The meetings introduced the Integrated Community-Led Model (iCLM) and its accompanying iCLM system, a powerful tool for community data management focusing on HIV, TB, and Malaria. Through these meetings, @RwandaNGOForum also established District iCLM Task Teams for advisory roles, which will help fuel the implementation of the project.
These sessions empowered local authorities, healthcare providers, and representatives from communities affected by HIV, TB, and malaria to step into their roles as active participants in monitoring the healthcare services provision and identifying issues and challenges that hinder service provision, particularly for high-risk and key and vulnerable populations.

In @RubavuDistrict, Mr. Mvejuru Simon Pierre, Acting Director of the Health Unit, expressed his enthusiasm, saying: “Today marks a significant step as we launch a vital integrated program to focus on monitoring healthcare services by and for the communities affected, infected or at high risk of TB, HIV, and Malaria. Everyone’s presence and participation are a testament to our shared vision to prioritize the health and well-being of our community. This iCLM model embodies the spirit of putting our communities first. Through the collaboration and partnership and involvement of all stakeholders, we’re creating a healthier future for all.”
Meanwhile, in @rulindodistrict, Mayor MUKANYIRIGIRA Judith (@Jmukanyirigira) conveyed her gratitude to @RwandaNGOForum, @RBCRwanda, and other stakeholders, emphasizing: “This is the right time to shift our focus more on high-risk groups, key and vulnerable populations who are the key drivers of diseases to the general population. The iCLM model aims to provide a platform for service users to participate in decision-making for their health benefits and well-being across the three diseases [HIV, TB, and Malaria].” She reaffirmed the district’s commitment to fully support the implementation through the dedicated efforts of the newly established District iCLM Task Team. This reassurance instills confidence in the project’s success and the district’s dedication to the cause.

In addition to the introductory and orientation on the iCLM Model and iCLM system, the meetings featured updates on the status of HIV, TB, and Malaria. The participants recognized the indispensable role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in the early detection, monitoring, and treatment of these diseases and applauded these unsung heroes for their contributions.

A demonstration of the iCLM system showcased its real-time data collection and analysis capabilities, which are expected to enhance decision-making processes and service delivery improvement for high-risk groups and key and vulnerable communities.
